I love Halloween. Scratch that. I love the fun, whimsical Halloween, not the spooky, scary Halloween. For me, more than the candy and costumes, Halloween is all about the colors: the colorful costumes, decorations, and treats. There’s the traditional orange and black, but the more modern Halloween colors also include green and purple. These Colorful Halloween cupcakes are an ode to my love of Halloween colors.
The cupcake itself is multicolored: orange, green, and purple. The frosting is the classic orange and black combination. My girls loved these cupcakes. I actually brought this batch to a bake sale, and all two dozen were sold out in five minutes. Yup. Even though these cupcakes are just vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting, the bright colors make them special. So special that even the picky eaters in my house wanted to devour them before I could package them up for the bake sale.
I can’t tell you how many people asked me how I piped two different frosting colors at once. Little did they know that it’s actually super simple, but it looks pretty stunning. You can find a full tutorial on how to make these cupcakes plus the cupcake and frosting recipes at Club ChicaCircle where I’m a monthly contributor.
