I’m back! Well, I didn’t really go anywhere, but you’ve probably noticed that my posting this summer (especially in July) was very spotty. Thankfully all is well on my end, but life got a little hectic. The kids were out of school. We traveled a lot. And my entire schedule got turned upside down because it was the month of fasting (Ramadan). That meant not eating or drinking from sunrise (at about 3:30 am) to sundown (which was around 8:30 pm). Yeah. It was a HUGE adjustment, but honestly, it wasn’t too bad πŸ˜‰

Not only did my diet undergo a drastic transformation, but my workout schedule did too. Starting in the spring, I go running at sunrise. I wake up about 1/2 an hour before the sunrises, drink my coffee, and enjoy some alone time while the rest of my family sleeps. By the time the sun rises, I’m out the door for my 8 mile run. It feels pretty darn amazing to be done with my workout by 8 am!

Since working out at sunrise wasn’t an option during Ramadan, I turned my schedule around. After breaking my fast at sunset, I’d eat a light dinner, and after about an hour, I’d work out. So, my eating and working schedule was completely on its head, and honestly, it left me little to no time to blog. But now I’m back! Back to my normal schedule. And back to The Crafting Foodie.

Asian Inspired Turkey Burgers with Cilantro and Garlic|The Crafting Foodie

This recipe for Asian Inspired Turkey Burgers is something I’ve been making for nearly 12 years. I found the recipe in a Gourmet Magazine when I first got married. I remember the first time I made these, my husband really balked at the idea of eating a turkey burger. He’s a meat eater. I red meat eater, and his only experience with a turkey burgers was bad. Really bad. They were dry, tasteless, and just gross. Determined to change his mind, I made these Asian Inspired Turkey Burgers. Over the past decade this recipe has changed from the original Gourmet Magazine one, but I think it’s only gotten better. My husband sure thinks so too πŸ™‚

Asian Inspired Turkey Burgers with Creamy Hot Sauce|The Crafting Foodie

While I post a lot of recipes on The Crafting Foodie, these Asian Inspired Turkey Burgers are an example of the type of food we eat every day – light, healthy, and easy to prepare. While I do cook and try, and honestly love, every singe recipe on the blog, my family and I try everything I make, but the vast majority of the sweets I made are only tasted by my family and me and the rest are given away to friends. That way we enjoy little indulgences while still staying healthy.
