Football Decorated Sugar Cookies | The Crafting Foodie

Is there a better way to celebrate Super Bowl Sunday than with a platter of delicious football decorated sugar cookies? Well, there probably is, but this is my contribution to this year's Super Bowl eating festivities.

I'm actually sending some of the cookies from this set to my nephew who is turning five. He's big into sports, and that's definitely influenced by his two older brothers. When my nephew was barely a year old, he could dribble a soccer ball and give it a nice swift kick as well. So, football decorated sugar cookies are right up his alley especially since his birthday is right around the Super Bowl.

This entire set of cookie was inspired by the ever brilliant Sugar Belle and her  Fun Football Cookie Ideas. She is my cookie-decorating hero! Her post links to other extraordinarily talented cookie decorators who inspired her. Among them is another one of my idols, Ali-Bee. Ali-Bee includes a step-by-step tutorial for the stadium cookies (which, by the way, are everyone's favorite cookie because they are genius!).

My favorites are the umpire shirts, complete with whistles. I feel like I could just slip one of those puppies on and walk right on to the field.

For each of the cookies, I used the following cutters:

the football stadium – rectangle cutter

umpire shirt and football jersey – onsie cutter (I just trimmed off the lower half)

football – oval

field goals – three-layer cake (I trimmed the sides of the two larger layers so they were even)

football pads – butterfly cutter

I also made a handy stencil for the numbers on my football jersey. I really liked how the cookies turned out (with the exception of the football pads, but hey, at least I tried ;)).

    Robyn,
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! The pin, retweet, and lighting the fire under my bum to have a Crafting Foodie board on Pinterest. It’s one of those things that I knew I wanted to do, but all the other five millions things would always get in the way ;)Thanks again!
